Project Overview

"Dunia Geometri" is an interactive learning media developed specifically for 5th-grade mathematics. Originally built as an academic thesis project, the core challenge was transforming abstract geometric concepts into an engaging, digital format for children. The goal was not merely to build a functional digital tool, but to engineer an instructional resource that rigorously met educational criteria for validity, practicality, and real-world classroom effectiveness.

1. Strategic Objectives

The primary mission was to create a digital resource that enhances both comprehension and motivation among young learners. Key objectives included:

  • Simplify Abstract Concepts: Translate elementary geometry into accessible, interactive lessons aligned with the school curriculum.
  • Drive Engagement: Foster student motivation, curiosity, and active participation in a subject often perceived as difficult.
  • Ensure Educational Feasibility: Guarantee the tool is highly valid, easy for teachers to implement, and demonstrably effective in boosting learning outcomes.

2. Instructional Design & Development

Built using Articulate Storyline, the media was designed with a strong focus on user interface and interactivity tailored for elementary students:

  • Curriculum Alignment: Designed instructional content to be conceptually accurate and fully integrated with 5th-grade math standards.
  • Child-Friendly UI/UX: Executed a highly visual interface and interactive elements designed to maintain focus and maximize learner engagement.
  • Comprehensive Assessment Design: Developed reliable instruments to actively measure not just academic scores, but also the learners' emotional interest and motivation.

3. Project Impact & Validation Metrics

Unlike many digital learning tools, "Dunia Geometri" underwent rigorous academic testing and demonstrated significant success across all metrics. The implementation yielded the following results:

  • High Instructional Validity: Achieved an exceptional 91.6% score from subject matter experts for content alignment, and 95.1% for media and interface design.
  • Proven Practicality: Scored 92.5% in teacher assessments for being time-efficient and easy to implement, alongside an 84.5% student usability score for accessibility.
  • Measurable Learning Gains: Effectively increased average student test scores from 46 (Pretest) to 76 (Posttest), achieving a meaningful N-gain of 0.57 (moderate improvement).
  • Boosted Motivation: Recorded an 84.6% learning interest score, proving the media's success in significantly elevating students' enthusiasm for mathematics.
